About Us

Paws Down Apparel was born out of a deep love for animals, cultivated through our family's diverse experiences with various pets, from rats and chickens to bunnies, dogs, and cats. Our connection with animals deepened when our youngest started volunteering at an animal shelter, and our older daughter, Madison, pursued an internship with aspirations of becoming a vet. As a family, we actively participated in walking dogs and assisting at events, further fueling our passion for animal welfare.

The onset of Covid-19 in 2020 posed challenges and opportunities for us. While we couldn't volunteer as usual, we discovered an alternative way to support our local animal shelter. Leveraging the attention our Halloween Display attracted from passersby, we set up a donation box with the goal of raising $500. To our delight, we surpassed expectations, collecting $1,750 in just two weeks. Encouraged by this success, we continued our efforts during Christmas, raising $850 along with food and toys for dogs and cats.

Entering our fourth year, we've transformed our home into an annual event space, raising over $20,000 directly in front of our house. Inspired by this community support, we decided to extend our impact throughout the year by launching an online store for Paws Down Apparel. Our products, including T-shirts, decals, toys, and more, are sold every night outside our house. The proceeds go towards supporting Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit, a shelter that has touched our hearts with its commitment to caring for numerous fur babies.
